Suggested Timings

As we are heading into a new term, we have created a ‘suggested timings’ guide for you. You will notice that it may be similar to your brother or sister’s. We hope that this makes your day easier whilst providing structure. As before, it is completely up to you how you structure your day and you may have already developed a routine that works for you and your family. Some of you may prefer to work from the previous timetables provided.

Sometimes the activity could take you longer than the suggested time and that is ok. It may also take you less time and that is also ok. All activities are suggestions and, even though we do encourage you to complete them, we completely understand that may not be possible and do not expect you to complete them all.

Don’t forget we would love for you to keep a diary of your experiences as this is quite a historical moment! We do not expect you to complete the diary every day; complete when you feel it is most appropriate. Record your reflection in the purple book you have been given.

English

Reading:

Just like you would after school, please read for 20-30 minutes every day.

There will be one comprehension-based activity each week. We will guide you as to whether this is Read Theory, Bug Club or an uploaded activity.

Writing:

Each week there will be one extended writing activity. This will include planning, writing and editing. You know how important editing is!

It would be good to space this out over the week and we will help guide you with this.

Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling:

Each week, there will be a daily grammar, punctuation or spelling task. This should take you around 20 minutes.

Maths:

There will be three tasks to complete each week and the recommended timings for each task is 30 minutes.

If you would like to complete additional challenges, you can continue to use: TRANSUM starter of the day.

We will also include some Zap the Gap activities and problem solving tasks as additional activities.

Times tables:

Each day spend 20 minutes on your times tables and related division facts.

You can use TTs Rockstars to do this.

Why not create your own speed tables grid and see if you can beat your previous time!

Ask a family member to quiz you on your tables and division facts.

Science:

There will be a weekly task uploaded which can be completed in one session or over the course of the week.

PE

Each week we will upload the daily challenges for you to complete.

We will also include other suggested activities that we think will interest you.

It is great to hear how many of you are doing Joe Wicks each morning – it is very tiring!

The recommendation is to spend at least 30 minutes each day exercising.

PSHE/Mindfulness:

It is so important for us to look after our mental health as well as our physical health. We will upload a range of activities that we think will help your well-being. If you have any fantastic ideas or if you have any activities that you find particularly helpful, please do let us know and we will add them in.

Topic, Art, Music, French, RE, DT:

In the folder entitled ‘Other Learning’, you will find suggestions for other activities that link to other curriculum areas that can be completed when you would like. As these are additional tasks, there are no expected timings. We hope that you enjoy these tasks and would love for you to make suggestions for this page.
