A fantastic array of book characters arrived at the school as St. John’s celebrated World Book Day 2019.
Firstly, thanks to all parents and carers who supported their children with their costumes. Everyone looked wonderful, and thoroughly enjoyed talking about the characters they had dressed up as.
We held a special whole school assembly so that we could see the wonderful costumes everyone was wearing. Then some of the teachers acted out their own World Book Day version of the story 'Stuck' by Oliver Jeffers; it was very funny!
Finally we watched a video of Mr Turvey reading a bedtime story...you can see it for yourself further down this page.
Throughout the day we explored lots of different books and in the afternoon we swapped classes to enjoy a story read by a different teacher.
After school we held a Grand Book Swap on the playground so that everyone could have a new book to take home and enjoy. It was a wonderful day full of exciting characters and stories.
Don’t forget to keep reading with your children and remember, Reading Aloud Counts!
