Trips and Visits

Educational trips, visitors and School Journeys play a vital role in the education of the children here at St John’s. They inspire and excite the children as well as enhancing the learning provided by our staff.

On entry to the school, you will be asked to give your consent for your child to participate in local visits. If a trip is outside of the local area, involves transport or requires a contribution towards costs, we will inform you by letter. We endeavour to keep the costs of school trips to a minimum and appreciate the contributions we receive. Your child will not be excluded from an educational trip if you are unable to make a contribution.

Children in all year groups participate in school trips and work with educational visitors. They also have the opportunity to attend two residential visits: one to an adventure centre in Year 5. In Year 6 the children will be encouraged to attend the residential visit which normally lasts for four or five days depending on availability.

Trips, visitors and school journeys are always planned carefully into the curriculum. Teachers will perform a preparatory visit and write risk-assessments to ensure safety requirements are adhered to. This process is monitored by our Educational Visits Co-ordinator.

For more information about trips, visitors and school journeys please contact the office staff or speak to your child's teacher.
