Mrs Julia Briggs, Cello and Piano Teacher

BMus(hons) Cello, Grade 8 Cello ABRSM , Grade 8 Piano ABRSM, Grade 6 Theory ABRSM, Performers’ Certificate Cello Trinity

I graduated with a BMus(hons) from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2005 and worked across the UK as the founding member of a string quartet coached by the Belcea, Allegri, Coull quartets and The Schubert Ensemble. I worked in a range of ensembles including the Oberon Symphony Orchestra (originated from Oxford Uni and BBC staff orchestra) and under the baton of Sue Perkins at the Queen Elizabeth Hall commemorating International Women’s Day. I improvised and performed with several folk/acoustic bands at venues including the Jam House (Jools Holland’s venue), the Cavern Club in Liverpool, the Shambala Festival and supporting Miles Hunt of The Wonder Stuff.

This whirlwind of classical, folk, improvisation and studying  inspired my teaching which has become my favourite gig of all! I have been teaching adults and children for twenty years, including several highly successful Music Hubs (Redbridge Music Service and The Tri Borough Music Hub). I have a holistic approach, each child will learn at a different pace and I am very clear with parents/carers about what their child needs to work on each week.
