Welcome

Welcome to St. John's Church of England Primary School

St John’s is a large, vibrant Church of England school in Tunbridge Wells, rooted in Christian values and welcoming of all. Our motto, “Nurture the potential in everyone”, guides everything we do. Inspired by 1 Thessalonians 5:11, we encourage and support one another so that every child can flourish academically, emotionally and spiritually.

We are proud of our close partnership with St John’s Church, our strong links with the local community, and the warm, inclusive ethos that makes our school such a special place. Our values – honesty, respect, empathy, courage, inclusivity and flourish – are woven into daily life, helping children to grow in character as well as knowledge.

Our curriculum is ambitious, engaging and broad, designed to spark curiosity and build the resilience and independence children need to succeed in an ever-changing world. Enrichment opportunities – from residentials and sports to music, leadership and cultural experiences – ensure every child can discover and develop their talents.

Our children achieve exceptionally well, consistently performing above national averages in key assessments, but we are equally proud of the confident, kind and thoughtful young people they become. Safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion are at the heart of our practice, ensuring every child feels safe, supported and celebrated.

In our most recent Ofsted inspection (March 2023), St John’s was judged a Good school. Inspectors praised how our values are “woven through the fabric of daily life.” More recently, we have been recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Inclusion and awarded for our nurturing approach to supporting children’s wellbeing.

We hope that when children leave us, they are not only well-prepared for secondary school but equipped with the foundations to thrive in life – ready to make a positive difference in the world.
